Local Buildings In Line For Awards
Press release January 9, 2008 Energy & EnvironmentNews Release From The Green Organisation, Tel/Fax 01604 810507
Do you know a local building that deserves national recognition for making a positive contribution to the built environment of the region?
If you do, the organisers of the Green Apple Awards for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage want to hear from you.
The Green Organisation has been running this prestigious international campaign for almost eight years now, with awards for buildings of all sorts - from ordinary homes to stately homes, from shops and offices to historic buildings, from barn conversions to national monuments.
National organiser Roger Wolens explained: "There are sectors for buildings and structures both ancient and modern - even new-builds. The main requirement for eligibility is that they make a positive contribution to their surroundings.
"We obviously want to reward those people who preserve and protect the older buildings that embody our architectural heritage, but with so many new buildings going up we also want to encourage the people responsible to create something that we can all be proud of."
Winners will be given free £95 tickets for a glittering prizegiving ceremony at the Tower of London in June, when they will be presented with their awards.
Entries can be submitted by anyone involved - owners, councils, architects, conservation specialists, developers and all of the building trades. There is no entry fee and entry forms with full details can be downloaded by clicking Built Environment Awards atwww.thegreenorganisation.info or you can phone 01604 810507.
